J-Ott was born in Washington D.C. U.S.A., where he spent his early childhood until moving to the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, more specifically the city of Martinsburg. His introduction to and affection for Jazz, Classical, Afro-Cuban, and Blues was inherited from his father’s repertoire of sophisticated music. His incredible talent as an exceptional drummer, pianist, vocalist, and lyricist, added to his complex creativity, make him an excellent artist!
Le Grand Sitch is from Central Africa but specifically the country of Cameroon. Before settling in the United States ten years ago, he earned the reputation of an inventor and dynamic painter! He won multiple awards in literature and creative technology. His uncanny ability to express emotion through art allowed this multiple-talented genius to display even more aptitude in the musical world.
The collaboration of the artist's talents can always be found at the core of each album. Although the two have different personalities and gifts, their similar vision unites them. The business-savvy artists have quickly built an empire that includes a record label, production team and touring band. "We come from a background where money was very limited. So, we had to learn to be as self-sufficient as possible," says J-Ott.
INRG is very aware of the viewers, fans and peers that closely follow their steps and has accepted the responsibility to those who listen to their music. "Music is a language from God. It speaks to everybody no matter the age, skin color, language spoken, or musical talent. So, for us to degrade our gifts, with ill lyrical content, would be contradictory," says Le Grand Sitch. The group speaks about these very issues on their bilingual (English and French) single, "Universal Language", which has created an enormous buzz internationally and been called "both glorious and exultant" by critics.
The 13 tracks on the album (the last 3 are instrumentals), For the Love of Music, show incredible versatility in the artists/producers careers. Portraying their Jazz and R&B roots, while providing melodic hits that can be listened to over and over again, INRG uses their Hip-Hop vernacular to effectively speak their messages of motivation, determination and world security. "We've always been open about everything that has happened to us. There are so many people that support Grand Sitch and myself, I think they should know exactly who they are supporting. So, we like to talk about our real-life issues," says J-Ott.
2010 is undoubtedly shaping up to be the biggest year of INRG's career. Along with their album release and continued promotion, the artists are also preparing for their worldwide tour, while constantly employing additional professionals to their production team. It's easy to become overwhelmed while trying to progress a business, however, INRG relishes the fact that they are blessed enough to continue working in an unfortunate time, where the economy as a whole is suffering. The tenacious work ethic is ingrained in the soul of these two artists as they look ahead to their next album, scheduled to hit the market next year. The two state that they were "born" to do music and hope that the fans, friends and peers can attest to that statement.
